ThesevererepreionandbrutalityagaitwomeninAfghanistanisnotamatteroflegitimatereligiouspractice.MuslimsaroundtheworldhavecondemnedthebrutaldegradationofwomenandchildrenbytheTalibanregime.Thepoverty,poorhealth,andilliteracythattheterroristsandtheTalibanhaveimposedonwomeninAfghanistandonotconformwiththetreatmentofwomeninmostoftheIslamicworld,wherewomenmakeimportantcontributiointheirsocieties.OnlytheterroristsandtheTalibanforbideducationtowomen.OnlytheterroristsandtheTalibanthreatentopulloutwomen'sfingernailsforwearingnailpolish.TheplightofwomenandchildreninAfghanistanisamatterofdeliberatehumancruelty,carriedoutbythosewhoseektointimidateandcontrol.
Civilizedpeoplethroughouttheworldareeakingoutinhorror-notonlybecauseourheartsbreakforthewomenandchildreninAfghanistan,butalsobecauseinAfghanistan,weseetheworldtheterroristswouldliketoimposeontherestofus.
